Playground Project 2016

Dear Neighbors & Friends to Viewlands Elementary,

Viewlands PTSA, Playground Improvement Steering Committee, is in the final preparations to start Phase I playground improvements, summer 2016.  We have secured construction details of the new play structure area and will ask the Viewlands community to vote & help select the final play equipment in the coming weeks of May. We have seen an amazing show of support directly from over 200 donors to reach our Fall 2015 fundraising goal of $25,000.

Now, Spring 2016, we are inviting a new set of donors to help us raise the final $25,000 needed, to secure final components of the project, including the embankment slide with rubber surfacing, and boulder components thoughtfully prepared in the final construction plans. We welcome each and every $ raised, May-June 10th, from local neighbors to the school, community members, business partners and local organizations.

Thank you for your kind consideration in making a financial gift today to make this a gathering place, with purposeful and accessible areas for play, exercise and recreation for all; to strengthen community ties for many years to come, uniting five local neighborhoods, thousands of local residents, of all ages, who will individually and collectively benefit from this revitalized shared space!!!

Now is your chance to leave a legacy for the future, making a financial gift today, in support of Viewlands Elementary PTSA (VEPTSA) Playground Improvement Project! The planned multi-sport field and play area improvements will truly benefit our local community for years to come! Please return the “Donor Drive + Legacy Campaign” flier below with your tax deductible donation to address below:

Historical Project Information:
The project has been awarded the $75,000 King County Youth Sports Facilities Grant and a $100,000 Neighborhood Matching Fund (NMF) Large Project Fund Grant from the Department of Neighborhoods.  In order to complete this project, our community must raise our cash match portion by November 4, 2015.  The Project – Phase 1 construction can begin as early as July 2016, subject to your support, and significantly improve the lower field of Viewlands Elementary with:
• A new play area and climbing structure
• A multi-sport field + 1/8 mile walking-running track

A renovated play space and field will be a great benefit to the surrounding community & neighborhoods, for many years to come, for learning, play, exercise and recreation.
DesignElementImagesPhase I will strengthen our community to have a recreation space within walking distance that is useful and accessible for all ages.  The complete concept design plan can be viewed at (click on Playground Project 2016) or on the Viewlands Elementary PTSA Facebook page.
