VEPTSA Playground Construction Update

Viewlands Playground Construction Summer Update

Viewlands PTSA Playground Project Committee has seen significant progress over the last 7 weeks, since construction began June 28, 2016. We are very excited to say that the Viewlands Playground Improvement Project construction is on schedule for completion!

Thanks to our community and supportive volunteers who have given time to help with three work parties so far this summer. The collaborative volunteer efforts have been an asset to the overall project.  Volunteers have helped to bring the story line of the playground to life with salmon stamp work into the landing along with placing all donor bricks and pavers to inspire visitors to the new playground area.

We will be eagerly waiting for the new play equipment to be installed, set for Saturday, September 17th. The installation of the new play equipment will require a solid team of volunteers and your time donated to the project will be instrumental in this final work party effort to complete the new big kids play area.
If you are interested in helping with this community build of the new play equipment, please email viewlandsplayground@gmail.com

Thanks again to our school and local community for all your support!!!

Viewlands Elementary PTSA is looking forward to many youth enjoying this newly constructed play space, tentatively the 1st of October, 2016.  Please check back for an official “Grand Opening” date and celebration!

Thank you Green Tech Excavation Inc., Barker Landscape Architects and Avid Landscape!

Playground Project Construction Starting

PlaygroundViewlands Elementary PTSA is excited to let you know construction will be  starting on our playground project JUNE 28, 2016!

During construction, the lower grass field will be entirely closed. The site  work is expected to be complete by end of summer, and the play  equipment installed sometime in September through a community-build – date to be determined. We hope you’ll join us to install the equipment.

As a separate project, the School District is installing portables on the main  playground, so the main playground will be closed intermittently during the  summer. Thank you for your understanding!

If you have any questions about our PTSA project, and/or you’d like to sign up to help in September,  you may contact: viewlandsplayground@gmail.com or Christel at 206.291.6902. This project is  funded in part by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the City of Seattle.

Viewlands Elementary Playground Improvement Project Update!

Dear Friend of Viewlands,

It’s a happy 4th!!! November 4th!!! which culminated the Viewlands Playground Donor Drive + Legacy Campaign and over $45,000 raised!!!

The total $ donated and received to VEPTSA for the Playground Donor Drive + Legacy Campaign (Oct. 14-Nov. 4th)= $45,579

The count today from this last week was $23,371 (which includes an extremely generous $15,000 private donor contribution through the Seattle Foundation and the numerous donations combined via check or credit card from individual donors).  I want to thank everyone who helped with outreach for this Legacy Campaign and on behalf of the VEPTSA, we genuinely thank each and every donor!!!
What an inspirational team effort and significant results, beyond what I even imagined.  Remarkable!!! The Viewlands Playground project will become a reality this summer 2016!!!

We have exceeded our goal, which is fabulous, and will allow us to accomplish more of Phase I.

The new play structure area is now confirmed, along with grass field renovation and associated site infrastructure/pathways to the new play area!!  plus whatever more we can financially accomplish (1/8 mile permeable asphalt track- 8 feet wide, embankment slide area or natural hillside pathway/outdoor classroom seating, stage area) with the additional funds that come our way Nov. 5th-March 4th 2016!!!

It’s still not too late to give… as all funds that can be leveraged (Nov. 5th-March 4th) will support additional improvements prioritized by the community and significantly benefit the entire school and local community!!!

Thanks for your partnership again and taking on the challenge to find 4 donors… to truly be inspired!!!

Inspiring results!!!
Sincerely, Christel Peterson
